LECTURES OFFERED BY E.L.D. MEDIATION SERVICES

Registration Form / Order Form / Introduction For Text Books

E.L.D. Mediation Services is dedicated to teaching peaceful, harmonious communications between people (i.e., employer/employee, businesses-domestic and international, parent/child/family, friends, and many other relations). The skills and techniques are taught through a series of lectures modified to your special concerns.

You may choose from the list below.

Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR)-

This lecture teaches people their alternatives to settling disputes, in addition to using the court system (litigation). The lecture teaches the differences between litigation, arbitration, mediation, private judges, advocates, conciliations, referees, and others. It teaches when you might consider one over the other (i.e., when to go to small claims court as opposed to mediation). *

Negotiations-

This lecture teaches straight negotiations techniques, along with some mediation techniques, in order to achieve one’s ultimate goals to the mutual benefit of all parties involved. (If the participants want to take the two National analytical tests, the fees are $12.00 per test-see details below.)

Communications & Conflict Resolutions-

This is a great lecture for business people dealing with clients/customers, employer/employee and management relations. It is also good for family, community and religious organizations. This lecture briefly discusses ADR. It also teaches tools of communications-listening and questioning techniques (some negotiations and mediations aspects). The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument is required (an additional $12.00 materials fee per participant), as is the La Monica Empathy Profile on communications (an additional $12.00 materials fee per participant).

Mediation Training:

30 hours of training, certificate issued. $450/part. or $425/part. for groups of 3 or more registering together. All training courses must have a minimum of 3 students. Sorry no waiver of fees for any person/non-profit organization.(Call for special details and Cont. Ed. credit-see below.)

Employment Lectures:

Discrimination/Wrongful Termination-

This lecture is specialized depending on who is in the audience and/or participating, but starts with the basics of what constitutes these causes of actions. If upper level management is participating, this lecture is geared to avoid the pitfalls of workplace harassment and discrimination, from documenting and confrontational meetings, to actual receipt of lawsuits. If employees are participating, the information is geared towards educating what type of behavior is involved, and what not to do within the office and around the water cooler.

Also, dress code, sick outs (behavioral issues), etc. can be incorporated into these lectures. 30 minute to 2 hour lecture. This lecture also can include The Peacock Profile by Barbara "BJ" Hateley & Warren H. Schmidt which is a nationally used tool for teaching diversity in the workplace (an additional $12.00 fee per participant).

Various Corporate/Personal Lectures:

These lectures are designed for your specific corporate and/or personal needs. These are lectures designed for those who need to, or want to, assess management practices and diversity within your organization and also help to assess individuals as to their uniqueness and organizational fit. There are also workshops specifically for Diversity showing how others can work with other people who are different from them. Hence, these seminars are geared for management and for individuals. There are also lectures on power base which is the ability of each of use to positively inspire and influence others either in a managerial or on a team basis. The cost of the evaluation tests cost $8.75 each (there are 3 that go with the various subjects) and the lectures are a minimum of 3 hours long.

Learning to be a Businesswoman in a Businessman’s World:

This lecture is geared for both men and women. It deals with all aspects of a person balancing both their personal and professional life. It starts with the mental attitude and works into how to get along with the non-emotional business world.*

Community Property:

This is a simple and basic lecture about California law regarding spouses and significant other’s rights with respect to acquired property before, during and after cohabitation. It can include recent same sex trends in the law, although this subject is very sensitive to most groups, and the law is still very unsettled in the state. E.L.D. Mediation Services reserves the right to use its discretion with respect to including this subject matter. *

COSTS/FEES: (For each of the above-any combination of 2 or more lectures, cost are negotiable-call.)

  • $150.00 for a one hour lecture involving 15 participants or less.
  • $200.00 for a two hour lecture involving 16-30 participants.
  • $250.00 for a two hour lecture involving 31-60 participants.

Mediation Services, including such issues as advocating violence, segregation, discrimination, etc. Refunds in full minus any costs and expenses incurred are paid up until the day of speaking. If during the lecture it becomes known that a contradictory atmosphere exists, the fee, which is paid in advance, is non-refundable.

E.L.D. Mediations Services uses three National learning tests which help to teach the Participant what type of communications skills they use-The La Monica Empathy profile, what type of conflict handling style they employ in dealing with others-The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument, and The Peacock Profile for diversity by Barbara "BJ" Hateley & Warren H. Schmidt.

Each evaluation test costs $8.75 per participant.. Each test takes approx. 25 minutes to complete. E.L.D. Mediations Services then takes about 30 minutes to discuss the different communications styles and conflict modes to teach participants how to recognize others’ modes and to employ the various modes to communicate with others more harmoniously and to get what you would like from them.
